
Karen specializes in helping individuals and families, high net worth households, solopreneurs, independent consultants, small businesses, and small non-profit employers, with their insurance, investment and wealth management needs. Her services include retirement planning vehicles (IRAs, ROTH-IRAs, SIMPLE IRAs, SEP-IRAs, 401(k)s, 401(k) rollovers, Individual 401(k)s), 403(b)s, 457 plans, Defined Compensation plans, and multiple types of annuities) as well as retirement income planning. She guides families with college funding strategies and 529 plans.
As an insurance broker, she independently offers multiple lines of business and personal coverages and holds appointments with multiple carriers. She offers small employer health, dental and vision insurance, Individual & Family plans, short and long term disability income insurance, life insurance, long term care insurance, and Medicare Supplement policies. She is authorized to offer health plans through DCHealthlink, the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange, and Healthcare.gov. As a broker, she impartially helps businesses find, manage, and control their employee benefits.
Karen has access to a large and varied pool of investment firms and programs through MML Investor Services to best meet the needs of the people she works with. Her goal is to help her clients formulate workable and cost-effective strategies to build, grow, mange, and maintain their health and wealth, and pass it on when the time comes.
Karen holds Series 6, 63, and 65 investment licenses, and provides fee based financial planning services. She is an Investment Advisor Representative with MML Investors Services. She began her career in the financial services industry in 1989 in the international and embassy banking division of a Washington, DC bank. She joined New England Financial and Cornerstone Financial Partners in Bethesda, MD in 1994, later becoming part of the MetLife Premier Client Group and then Mass Mutual. Karen moved to the Tyson’s Corner Virginia office in 2017.
Raised in Edina, Minnesota, Karen received a B.A,. cum laude, in International Relations from Mt. Holyoke College and an M.A. in Social Anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin. She has lived in the DC area since 1987 and currently resides in Springfield, Virginia with her husband and son. In her spare time she enjoys genealogy, gardening, history, and traveling. She is active with her community’s swim team.
